Four free summer showcases dot the calendar leading up to the festival
Sure, we’re all waiting anxiously for August 11 to roll around. But there are so many great local bands, and so many great local bands that know other great local bands, that we thought we’d spread the music across the summer with four summer showcase events in June and July.
Artists UUVVWWZ, Universe Contest and Eli Mardock, all scheduled to play Maha Music Festival’s local stage, are also headlining and curating summer showcase events. The three showcases are in partnership with Hear Nebraska, a nonprofit dedicated to cultivating the state’s music and arts community.
A fourth showcase, in partnership with 1% Productions, will also feature three local bands. All four showcases are free and open to the public.
June 29th
Lincoln-based UUVVWWZ will headline and curate a Maha Music Festival/Hear Nebraska showcase at Slowdown in Omaha. Dirty Talker and Bus Gas were selected by UUVVWWZ to play with them at the event, which is an all-ages show.
June 30th
Eli Mardock will headline and curate a Maha Music Festival/Hear Nebraska showcase at Duffy’s in Lincoln. Mardock has selected Masses, Gus and Call, Thunder Power and Classes to join him. This showcase is a 21 and over show.
July 13th
Universe Contest will headline and curate a Maha Music Festival/Hear Nebraska showcase at Lincoln’s Bourbon Theatre. Joining Universe Contest will be The Lepers and The Renfields. This is an 18 and over event.
July 19th
The Waiting Room in Omaha will host a Maha Music Festival/1% Productions showcase – the final showcase prior to the festival itself. It will feature Lightning Bug, Millions of Boys and Snake Island! and is an all-ages show.
